CFC’s Annual Contribution to SARSEF Continues to Encourage STEM Education for Tuscon’s Youth

SARSEF

In the words of SARSEF’s Development Manager, Chelsea Bowdren, “While reflecting on these last couple of weeks, I wanted to share our deep gratitude for the ongoing support from Community Finance Corporation. Your investment creates a lasting impact as SARSEF continues to find new ways to celebrate students, teachers, caregivers, and community through STEM Education.”

This year, out-of-state field trips where subsidized by contributions, including CFC’s, to help enable the vision statement at Flowing Wells Education Foundation: “Potential Finds Opportunity.” The FWUSD Impact Report states, “For many of our students [at Flowing Wells Junior High], this is the first time they have traveled outside of Tucson. Every student is eligible to apply, and acceptance to participate is contingent on good grades, attendance, and behavior. The opportunity to participate is an incredibly powerful motivator that helps keep students focused throughout the year as they approach the spring departure date. Unfortunately the cost of these trips is significant—approximately $850 per student—and some families simply cannot afford to send their child. This year, through the support of the CFC, we have reduced the out-of-pocket costs for our students, with every student receiving a subsidized cost of $780 and select students receiving significant financial aid.”
